FilAms Shine Bright at the Asian American Chamber of Commerce 40 Under 40 Awards

On November 7th, the Asian American Chamber of Commerce (AACC) hosted its highly anticipated 40 Under 40 Awards at Lao SzeChuan in North Bethesda, recognizing the region’s most dynamic young leaders within the AANHPI community. The gala brought together entrepreneurs, public servants, innovators, and community advocates from across Washington, D.C., Maryland, and Virginia—highlighting a new generation of changemakers shaping the future of the DMV.

This landmark celebration honored professionals under 40 who are not only excelling in their respective industries but are also driving economic growth, strengthening community ties, and enriching the cultural landscape. Backed by civic leaders and community partners, the event underscored the importance of empowering the next wave of AANHPI leadership.

Filipino American Honorees

Filipino Americans were proudly and prominently represented among this year’s honorees, showcasing the community’s growing leadership in business, government, and technology:

• Matthew Veland – Financial Planner, Prudential Financial
  Recognized for his dedication to helping individuals and families build financial stability and long-term success.

• Jaclyn Marmol – Regional Director, Office of U.S. Senator Mark Warner
  Honored for her impactful work in public service and her commitment to elevating community voices at the federal level.

• Alex Baquilod – CEO, GoodConversion Marketing
  Celebrated for his AI-powered data-driven approach to digital marketing and his role in boosting growth for businesses nationwide.

• Raiza Basilio – Vice President, Federal US AI
  Applauded for her leadership in artificial intelligence and her contributions to advancing responsible and innovative federal technologies.

FilAm Leaders in Attendance

This year’s event also welcomed several distinguished Filipino American community leaders. Marielle Kabin of Sison Homes, a recipient of last year’s 40 Under 40 award, attended in support of the new class of honorees and continues to be a role model for rising FilAm professionals.

Also in attendance was Joyce Puno, Chairperson & Chief Executive Officer of FilAm Spring Fest, representing one of the most vibrant, growing cultural and community platforms for Filipino Americans in the region.

Further elevating the celebration, the gala’s emcee was Matt Torres, a Filipino American reporter at WUSA9, whose presence and storytelling brought added pride and visibility to the program.
