UP Medical Baltimore-DC Alumni Chapter Marks Ruby Anniversary with Successful Spring Gala

WASHINGTON, D.C. — The Baltimore–Washington, D.C. Chapter of the University of the Philippines Medical Alumni Society of America (UPMASA) celebrated a major milestone with the successful staging of its Ruby Anniversary Spring Gala, raising vital funds for life-saving and future-forward medical initiatives.

The gala, attended by Filipino American physicians, healthcare professionals, and community supporters, highlighted the organization’s long-standing commitment to advancing healthcare access and medical education. This year’s event carried added significance as it commemorated the chapter’s Ruby Anniversary—marking decades of service within the Filipino and broader communities.

Proceeds from the evening will support Operation Braveheart, a flagship humanitarian program that provides cardiac surgeries to underserved patients. The initiative has been instrumental in delivering critical care to individuals who otherwise lack access to life-saving heart procedures, particularly in resource-limited settings.

In addition to Operation Braveheart, funds raised will contribute to the Molecular Genetic Pathology Fellowship Fund, which supports advanced training for physicians specializing in genetic diagnostics and precision medicine. The program aims to strengthen the pipeline of highly skilled medical professionals equipped to address evolving healthcare challenges.

Event organizers, led by Dr. Mariles Viloria, were recognized for delivering a well-executed and impactful evening that combined philanthropy with celebration. Attendees praised the gala for its strong turnout and unified sense of purpose.

The success of the Ruby Anniversary Spring Gala underscores UPMASA’s continued role as a driving force in medical outreach and professional development. As the organization looks ahead, its initiatives remain focused on expanding access to care and investing in the next generation of medical leaders.
